TESTIMONIALS

“This is the first magic book my wife has approved of. It does not teach tricks: if you have no intention of getting paid for performing then the book is not for you. If you are a full-time professional then you may or may not find it useful: I can’t tell because I’m not one (it’s for others to make this assessment). However if you are a competent amateur who would like to earn a living from magic, or intend to carry on with your day job while turning your hobby into a lucrative sideline, then you have to have this book. It will be the best magic-related investment you have ever made. There’s no miracle formula or anything weird, just down-to-earth practical advice which could take many years to discover by trial and error (with a lot of expensive mistakes along the way). If (like the title says) you want to make money from magic then buy it: you won’t be disappointed. This is the kind of quirky book which could sell out and become an expensive eBay item.” – Alan Jackson (Magic Cafe)

“… Please pass on my thanks to Mr McAdam for a really well written book.” – Paul Sumner

I’ve been working through the book and I thought it’s time to provide an update. Done the free gigs…..due to those December is now filling up nicely and everyone’s paying – I won’t be worrying about money this Christmas…Follow the steps and it really does work! Dark Knight

… I did not expect a step by step book. In a sense it is not a book to read but a book to work with/from, which was a very positive surprise. I want to keep on reading but am always reminded to do the tasks first, so you really have to think it through. / The book is worth much more than what Drew is asking for.” – Harry Lucas

“The book looks even better than I thought – really down-to-earth practical stuff. Much better than some of the highly priced stuff that I have bought in the past. I can’t wait to try it out.” – Martin Key

“The book is really a no nonsense guide to making cash from your Art. It functions as a work book, complete with templates and exercises for you to use and work through. I have just recently started to work through the book as intended and I believe that if you follow the tasks and rules that Drew sets out you WILL be successful. How can I know this if I haven’t been through the whole book? Because the book is dripping wet with common sense ideas and practical solutions. I wish I could begin to tip the ideas in the book just so that you would understand how simple the process is.

Drew explains everything; your set lists (impromptu, close up, stage, trade show etc), your persona, your promotional materials, how to get work, where to get work, how to make your effects more believable, how to view your audience and yourself and your peers, I mean there is no stone unturned, the whole game is laid bare for you.” – ‘DangerMouse’ (Magic Cafe)

“As someone who normally has the attention span of a 12 year old, having a workbook like this that makes me focus and plan out in a logical, methodical way is great. Although I have only made it through the first few chapters/exercises I already know it was a very worthwhile investment.” – Craig Leonard

“I find it a rather “easy” read, in that it’s well written and the concepts and ideas are clearly written. I’ll let you know Drew in six months how this road map works for me. Thus far I must say that it is exactly what I’m looking for.” – ‘Mind guy’

“Got it…and I’m reading it… and doing my excercises like a good boy… The part about your attitude towards your repertoire is definitely what I need in the first place, but I can’t wait until the part where you start SELLING your act. But, so far, I’m a happy customer… I’ll keep in touch when I advance in the manual…” – ‘Traveler’

“I’m reading/working through my copy! Well done Drew! It’s like you have written this book just for me, it’s direct, logical and inspiring! I need to do one more year of my current job before I can make my escape. I now have the confidence that this is realistic and not just a romantic notion!” – ‘Jasper’

“I’m about half way through this book and have to say it is enlightening. Well written and thoroughly enjoyable. I’m going to read through it once then go back through it completing each excercise as I go along…I’m absorbing what I have to do as I’m reading it now though… well done and thank you Drew.” – ‘Bumbacla’

“I think this is a book every amateur should have! Even if you do not want to make money out of magic it will make you a better magician or mentalist.” – ‘RichHead’

“This is the book I’ve been waiting for.” – ‘PsychoMagi’

“It’s GREAT! I know it’s not supposed to have any tricks / methods / routines in it…. but… I’ve been looking for presentational angles for 3 effects that really suits me. A few short paragraphs on page 36 solved it for me. If you have the book you will know what I’m talking about. Huge THANX Drew. I now have another 15 minutes of material that makes sense. Cheers.” – Ola

“I got The Book today!! I have to say this is a fantastic book. It holds over 140 pages of pure gold. Every page is full of common sense, practical, workable methods to ‘Make Money from Magic’. This book is very easy to read. Drew’s enthusiasm and wit shine through. I fully intend to use this book and follow each section as described. Congratulations Mr McAdam, your book is inspiring and provocative.” – ‘Kinesis’

“I’m currently working my way through your book (really enjoying and getting a lot out of it, by the way). Thanks for your help, and thanks also for writing such a generous, well-intended book.” – ‘Lance’

“I received Drew’s book (with prompt delivery) and after reading the opening chapters, for the first time for a while I got that tingling sensation (not since Mr Rowland’s SOT). The sensation was “Boy, this is well written and I feel that I can achieve a pipe dream”. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to read a book about ‘making money’ not filled (so far) with theories, graph charts, inspirational quotes (from Anom.) and fictional stories. From Drew’s descriptions, you know he has genuinely been through the motions.

It’s a pity that I cannot offer a full review because the nature of the book (i.e. exercises) does not allow it (plus, I’ve not even reached the halfway mark by a long-shot!). But, what it does offer the reader is a structured approach to setting yourself up from base and evaluating yourself, your routines and your future motives. And on top of this, the book price is pittance! I would have gladly parted with £80 or more (seriously) for this book! Well Done Drew! And thank you Mr Rowland, for making the overall quality of the book as good as your material!” – Lee Davies

“Hi everybody! This book is very interesting, well written and with so many good advices!! If you wanna make a living with mentalism, you should read this book. I found it to be the perfect companion with Ken Weber’s book!” – Mark Timon

I am reading it right now…it is awesome!!! Nathan

It should be noted that Drew is Scottish, and might not take kindly to being called English. He has a sense of humor about *most* things ….  His book is great and well worth the money. R

Making Money from Magic by Drew McAdam is a wonderful book that, I believe, everyone could benefit from reading and having in their collection. This book is a brutally honest manuscript detailing step-by-step on how to make money doing the craft you love.

Whether you are an amateur or a seasoned professional, you will find something useful out of this book. I highly recommend this book to everyone! R1ZO8

Have it! Love it! Can’t thank (Drew) enough for writing it! It really helped me focus on my character and how I want to portray myself, as well as what kind of performances I want to do. The Levitator

The book is an absolute gem…Follow each step and you will make money from performing – simple as. Looch

An amazing book from a truly impressive man (and I’ve yet to meet him, he’s made an impression on me via this book and stories from his friends!) Pete (We have actually met now – Drew)

I like the book very much and for me it´s besides “maximum entertainment” one of these books, you should own (if you want or have to earn your money with magic).Cin Chiller

I purchased this book about a couple years ago.. excellent book!! Is it really out of print already though? Brandon Queen

good job, mate! I wish I could get to Scotland to thank you in person! Espmagic.

this book is a winning read and a potential goldmine for performers who have mastered their craft and want the satisfaction that goes with getting paid often and well. Fib

This book could have well been named The Roadmap To Financial Freedom or better yet after reading some of the posts I would be tempted to rename it Making Money From Magic for Dummies. (It is) a step-by-step guide to becoming a successful business owner and lays out a plan in a sensible doable order that is easy to follow and written in plain non-pretentious language. Any newcomer would do good to put this book to work for them and keep it on their shelf as a referral source… Sebastian Black

It is crammed full with very practical and specific, step-by-step advice. In fact, it is this wealth of detail and minutiae about your various acts, and scripts, and action plan that makes it so valuable, for me at least. And it is such a FUN read, on top of it — Drew is a terrific and talented writer with a zest for life.

It is the most detailed book on the business of mentalism that I’ve ever read, and it was clearly a labor of love by the author. At such an inexpensive price (came out to almost exactly US$36, as Ian states on his page, plus shipping), it is just silliness for an aspiring mentalist not to at least have it in the library, right next to Ken Weber’s “Maximum Entertainment.” Seth
